Letter to Speaker Johnson: Request to Consider Congressman Cory Mills for the Congressional Medal of Honor

Dear Speaker Johnson,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to draw your attention to the extraordinary service and sacrifices of Congressman Cory Mills and to humbly request that you consider recommending him for the Congressional Medal of Honor, to be presented by President Donald Trump upon his return to office. While it is understood that President Joe Biden is unlikely to award Congressman Mills the Presidential Medal of Freedom, I believe that the Congressional Medal of Honor would be a fitting recognition of his unparalleled contributions to our nation and its citizens.

Congressman Mills is a decorated combat veteran who has exemplified courage, dedication, and selfless service throughout his career. Beyond his distinguished military service in some of the most dangerous theaters of operation, his post-military efforts have been nothing short of heroic.

In 2021, Congressman Mills led the first successful overland rescue of Americans in Afghanistan, setting a precedent for private humanitarian efforts in the wake of the chaotic U.S. withdrawal. In 2023, he orchestrated the rescue of 255 Americans from Israel, and in 2024, he facilitated the rescue of 23 Americans and 59 mentally and physically disabled children from Haiti. His actions during these high-risk missions demonstrated exceptional leadership and a steadfast commitment to saving lives, often at great personal risk.

Domestically, Congressman Mills has been a lifeline to disaster-stricken communities. From airlifting 23,000 pounds of critical supplies to hurricane-impacted areas in Western North Carolina to providing generators, food, and communication systems to first responders in Florida, his actions have directly benefited countless Americans.

In stark contrast to Congressman Mills’ extraordinary service, there are far less notable individuals who have received accolades, with contributions that fall exponentially short of such a standard. George Soros, influential primarily in promoting liberalism and open societies, has been a polarizing figure whose contributions remain divisive. Congressman Mills’ actions, however, transcend political ideology and athletic triumphs, directly saving lives and safeguarding American values.

Similarly, Hillary Clinton, despite her decades in public service with limited tangible achievements, has been associated with numerous controversies and failures that have raised significant concerns about her leadership. From catastrophic missteps in foreign policy to failed humanitarian efforts that lacked transparency and accountability, her record underscores a pattern of shortcomings that have drawn widespread criticism and left many disillusioned. Decisions like facilitating the Uranium One deal, which raised national security concerns, and negotiating the release of billions to Iran further highlight actions with potentially grave long-term consequences for America’s safety and global standing.

In stark contrast, Congressman Cory Mills has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and selfless service that directly benefits Americans. While Clinton’s record is marked by controversies, Mills’ achievements reflect a commitment to saving lives, supporting communities in need, and upholding the principles that strengthen the nation. His efforts, both domestically and internationally, transcend politics, embodying a steadfast dedication to safeguarding lives and ensuring America’s integrity remains intact.

I respectfully urge you to consider Congressman Mills for the Congressional Medal of Honor. Such recognition would not only honor his extraordinary service but also serve as a powerful reminder of the values of courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to others.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I am confident that Congressman Mills’ actions and character embody the highest ideals of our nation and merit this prestigious honor.

Sincerely,

CPT Robert M. Cornicelli US Army (Ret)/Navy Veteran President, Veterans for America First Founder, Veteran Recovery Coalition
