Robert M. Cornicelli, National President of Veterans for America First, Helps Save Disabled Veteran from Eviction Over Holiday Weekend
(Moncks Corner, SC) – Robert M. Cornicelli, National President of Veterans for America First (VFAF) and founder of the nonprofit Veteran Recovery Coalition, intervened over the holiday weekend to help a disabled Veteran avoid eviction and homelessness.
Cornicelli received a 3 AM call from a distressed Veteran who had been given just one week to vacate his home, with no lease agreement and nowhere else to go. Acting immediately, Cornicelli contacted an attorney and offered to cover all legal expenses. Once the attorney learned the case involved a disabled Veteran, he agreed to take the case pro bono.
The attorney determined that the eviction was motivated by the landlord’s desire to make room for a recently divorced family member. Through swift intervention, an agreement was reached and a formal lease is now being drafted to secure the Veteran’s housing.
Cornicelli credited Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb and the Berkeley County Council for supporting Veterans through the Veteran Recovery Coalition. Their commitment, combined with legal assistance, ensured that this Veteran will remain in his home.
