VFAF’s Devonta Sullivan and Vet Force Team Build Library and Computer Lab at Local Shelter

VFAF’s Devonta Sullivan and Vet Force Team Build “Mrs. K’s Library” at Local Shelter

In a heartwarming act of service, Devonta Sullivan—a member of the Veterans for America First (VFAF) Vet Force Team—led the creation of Mrs. K’s Library at a local shelter. Named in honor of a future family rooted in love and service, the library and computer lab offers children facing hardship a safe space to read, learn, and dream.

“At Mrs. K’s Library, we believe every child deserves access to knowledge, imagination, and opportunity—regardless of their circumstances,” said Sullivan. With books, technology, and creativity at its core, the space is dedicated to planting seeds of hope through literacy, learning, and love—one child at a time.

Earlier this month, VFAF’s Devonta Sullivan led the Vet Force team to rebuild dignity and safety at Atlanta’s Park Ave Baptist Church Shelter. As a former police officer turned Veterans for America First Vet Force leader, Devonta marshaled veterans, community volunteers, and local businesses into action.

Under his direction, the team repaired living areas, refreshed communal spaces, and ensured families had a warm, welcoming environment in which to recover. “We’re rebuilding dignity. We’re giving people a place to rest, recover, and restart,” Sullivan remarked, reflecting the spirit of the project georgiavfaf.org.

This effort is part of VFAF’s Vet Force initiative—an organization empowering veterans, former officers, and civilians to serve through hands-on community projects. Leading the charge, Devonta has turned his firsthand experiences with homelessness and public service into a powerful mission: aiding his community long after leaving the badge behind.
